Normal pressure hydrocephalus is an accumulation of CSF that causes the ventricles in the brain to become enlarged, but there is little or no increase in the pressure within the ventricles. WebHydrocephalus results when the flow of CSF is obstructed, too much CSF is produced, or not enough CSF is re-absorbed. When too much CSF accumulates in the ventricles, pressure on brain tissue and the inside of the skull increases. This pressure can damage brain tissue and cause neurological symptoms.
